How do I leave a review for the podcast?
Why leave a review for a podcast?
First of all, thanks for reading this – it means you’re even thinking about leaving a review for the podcast, and I greatly appreciate it! I used to hate leaving reviews for products until I realized just how much they can mean for the creator (which in turn means they are more motivated and even financially able to create more products).
So why should you leave a review?
You love the podcast! Or… you hate it! A lot of times reviews are only left if someone really loves something or really hates something, which is actually a good thing. Sometimes I buy a product because someone hated a feature on it, because unlike that cranky customer, I actually want that feature.
It helps bring in new listeners! Reviews themselves don’t bring in new listeners, but oftentimes they’re the last thing a potential listener checks before deciding whether or not to listen to a podcast. With a quick glance, they can see if the podcast is worth their time. And the more people who decide it’s worth their time, the more it’s worth my time to keep making more episodes for YOU.
It gives me feedback to make the show better! If I hear everyone sing the praises of a specific author or story, you can be sure I will be checking back in with that author to see if they have another story I can feature. Or if you tell me you want to hear more (or less) about the authors, or more (or less) about the narrators, that helps me know how to change things up.
It’s the easiest way to support the podcast! If you want the episodes to keep coming, I need your support. As a new podcast, spreading the word is the number one way to help me keep the podcast going, and that includes leaving reviews.
Where do I leave a review for a podcast?
At first it sounds easy to leave a review (don’t worry, it’s still easy!). But then you go to your app and it’s like finding that contact lens you dropped in the grass.
Part of the problem is that not every podcast app allows you to leave reviews. If you’re listening in Google or Pandora, you’ll be looking all over for a “write a review” button because it doesn’t exist. Weird, right?
So here are five places you can leave a review, along with detailed instructions. Go ahead, pick your poison… or poisons if you’re feeling generous!
How to leave a review on Apple Podcasts
Before you start opening up Apple Podcasts (or iTunes) on your computer, you should know that Apple Podcast reviews can only be left in the app. I know, it’s like they’re trying to keep you from telling everyone what you like and don’t like about a podcast.
Use this link to take you straight to the Finding Fantasy Reads podcast on your Apple Podcasts app. If you haven’t already, click on ” + follow” in the top right corner.
Next you’ll want to scroll all the way to the bottom where it shows “Ratings & Reviews.” Don’t click on any individual episodes, becuase you can’t leave a review for individual episodes, only the show. Just below the current reviews, there’s a link that says “Write a Review.”
From that point on, it’s pretty straightforward. You pick a star rating, leave some constructive criticism and/or encouraging words, then hit send. If it’s your first time leaving a review, you’ll need to pick a nickname. It might take some time for Apple Podcasts to approve the review, but at this point, you’re done!
Thanks so much for leaving a review!
How to leave a review on Amazon Music
Amazon has made it tricky for people to leave reviews, because even though you can see reviews on Amazon Music, you can’t leave them there. However, you can leave them on Amazon’s main app or website.
To leave a review on either the app or the website, you’ll want to go to the Finding Fantasy Reads podcast page. Next, you’ll scroll down to “customer reviews,” then click on “write a customer review.”
From that point on, whether you’re in the app or on the website, it’s pretty straightforward. You pick a star rating, a headline, then leave some constructive criticism and/or encouraging words. Finally, you hit submit and wait for Amazon to approve the review. You did it!
Thanks so much for leaving a review!
How to leave a review on Podchaser
Podchaser wants me to make it really easy for you. So they’ve made this super easy review button. This is a unique platform in that it doesn’t have an app, so it will automatically open on any device in your preferred browser:
Once you click on the review button, you’ll see a spot to rate the podcast.
One unique thing about Podchaser is that you can leave reviews for individual episodes as well as the podcast as a whole. So if there’s one that stood out to you, make sure I know it so I can book more featured authors with similar stories, or even bring back that author with a new story!
From that point on, whether you’re reviewing an episode or the whole podcast, it’s pretty straightforward. You pick a star rating, leave some constructive criticism and/or encouraging words, then hit save. You did it!
Thanks so much for leaving a review!
How to leave a review on Spotify
Spotify is another platform that requires you to leave the review in the app. Go to the Finding Fantasy Reads podcast here, and you should see a ratings button just below the description.
Simply click on that button, and leave your rating.
Two things to be aware of: if you haven’t actually listened to any episodes in the Spotify app it won’t let you leave a review. Also, until I have ten reviews, the rating won’t be made public, Rest assured that your rating has been saved!
For now, Spotify doesn’t have the ability to leave reviews for the podcast, but you CAN leave reactions to individual episodes.
That’s it! You did it!
Thanks so much for leaving a rating!
How to leave a review on Podcast Addict
Podcast Addict is an android app, and the only way to leave a review is from inside the app. Since I don’t have an android, I can’t walk you through the process with screen shots, but I’m guessing it’s pretty straightforward. You can find Finding Fantasy Reads on Podcast Addict here, and then you should be able to subscribe and leave a review.
Thanks so much for leaving a review!
