Karyne (00:00:07) – Hi fantasy readers. This is Karyne Norton, your fellow book binger, and you are listening to the Finding Fantasy Reads podcast where you can test out a new fantasy story every single week to find your next favorite author.
Last fall, I shared a short story of my own from an anthology that came out called From the Arcane. It’s a set of standalone stories by different authors that all center around magical artifacts or weapons. This week I get to share another with you, and it’s told from the perspective of a young girl and a bow.
It’s written by Lily Anne Crow, who is a storyteller of dark fantasy and epic fantasy tales where you never know what lurks in the shadows, and almost anyone can rise to the rank of hero. She has been writing stories of the fantastic since she could hold a quill. I want to know if she actually does use a quill. Her debut novel, If Light Above, is the first in the series titled A War of Whispers. When she’s not writing, Lily enjoys spending time with her closest people and her most beloved creatures, delving deep into nature or discovering new parts of her fantasy world, Erlahain.

Last month, a bunch of you took me up on my birthday request for more reviews, which was amazing. One of my favorites came from P. Senny, who said, “I love to read fantasy, but I don’t often listen to podcasts or read short stories, so I was very surprised how quickly I’ve been drawn into this Finding Fantasy Reads podcast. The short stories that Karyne picks are great and the audio recording is top notch. The best part is I’m constantly discovering new fantasy authors to fuel my reading addiction.” I love being able to fuel everyone’s reading addiction, too.
If you’ve been enjoying the podcast and want to tell the world about it, I have links in the show notes to make it super easy to do that. Don’t forget that May 28th is the last episode for this season, and at that point you will have just one week to get your votes in for the Finding Fantasy Reads Listener’s Choice Award. Be thinking about which episode has been your favorite this season so you can help celebrate the authors.
Thank you all for listening, and happy reading.

Though Lily has been training young Magisters for many years, she desires a change of scenery and is aiming to make story-telling a full-time occupation. She is a lover of all things wild and magical, from sweet wine to exotic beasts, and from starry skies to snowy mountain-tops.

Karyne Norton hasn’t found the key to time travel, immortality, or infinite lives, so she’s taking a break from nursing and photography to focus on raising four human beings while writing epic fantasy.
