Karyne (00:00:07) – Hi fantasy readers. This is Karyne Norton, your fellow book binger, and you are listening to the Finding Fantasy Reads podcast where you can test out a new fantasy story every single week to find your next favorite author.
Today’s story involves two magical freelancer friends who take on a bigger job than they bargained for. It’s written by Laura VanArendonk Baugh, who writes fantasy of many flavors as well as nonfiction. She has summited extinct dormant and active volcanoes and has visited one active eruption, but none has yet accepted her sacrifice. She lives in Indiana where she enjoys Dobermans, travel, fair-trade chocolate, and making her imaginary friends fight one another for her own amusement.
Today’s narrator is Paeter Frandsen, host of Christian Geek Central, and I’m actually a bit jealous that he got this one, because it’s so fun. Stick around to the end or check out today’s show notes to see where you can find more from both the author and the narrator. For now, please enjoy A Midwinter Theft by Laura VanArendonk Baugh.

If you happen to be listening in the first couple days this podcast goes live, you might be able to catch her current crowdfunding campaign on Backerkit, which ends on September 26, 2024. It’s for the series connected to this fun story, so you’ll definitely want to check it out. I’ll have a direct link in the show notes. But if you’re not one of those lucky enough to listen right away, I bet you can find out more information about when that series will be available on her website, which again, is lauravab.com.
If you enjoyed listening to Paeter narrate the story, you might also enjoy listening to his podcast, Christian Geek Central, where he discusses movies, video games, and all things enjoyed by self-proclaimed geeks from a Christian worldview.
One of my favorite things is getting emails from all of you telling me how you found the podcast, especially after my challenge in August. So many of you have heard about it from a friend, which is a huge testament to the power of word of mouth. So if you enjoyed this story, don’t forget to share it with a friend. This is the last week I’ll honor my challenge. If you share the podcast with two friends, then send me an email telling me the two people you shared it with, and I’ll send you a code for a free audiobook of my novella, The Light That Saves. And your friends can also email me and tell me they’re listening because you invited them and I’ll send them the same audiobook. I’ve made sharing as easy as possible with links in the show notes, so don’t miss your chance to get the audiobook for free.
As always, I will have links for all those sites in the show notes. Thank you all for listening, and happy reading!
