Karyne (00:00:07) – Hi fantasy readers. This is Karyne Norton, your fellow book binger, and you are listening to the Finding Fantasy Reads podcast where you can test out a new fantasy story every single week to find your next favorite author.

We’re in the middle of our fantasy retelling month with an audiobook giveaway and four fantasy retellings. So far, we’ve had a Sleeping Beauty retelling, a Peter Pan retelling, and now we’re starting a Cinderella retelling that will carry us through the next week. I’m always impressed at authors’ abilities to find new ways to spin old stories. There are hundreds of Cinderella retellings. We’ve even had one or two others on the podcast, but they all feel different.

This one is written by Sarah Carlisle, a homeschooling mom of six kids who got her start in writing Jane Austen Variations, her other love, under the pen name Sarah Courtney. The novels in her first series, Enchanted Tales of Tir, are each based on a fairy tale on the southern continent, and she’ll be jumping to the northern continent for her second series of original fantasy novels.

Those of you who’ve been listening for a while know that I try really hard to keep each episode between 30 and 60 minutes so that it’s consistent for you. But you’ll also notice that this episode is well over an hour, and the next one will be as well. And I’m not going to apologize for that. When I picked this story, it was because I knew it was amazing and I didn’t really pay attention to how long it was. So, you get a little extra helping of Finding Fantasy Reads these next two weeks.

Stick around to the end or check out today’s show notes to see where you can find more from the author, as well as how to enter our fantasy retelling audiobook giveaway. For now, please enjoy Unmasked: Part 1 by Sarah Carlisle.

Karyne (00:02:06) –  Unmasked: Part 1 is read by Karyne Norton. Due to copyright, the full transcript of the story cannot be included here. Please go to authorseracarlisle.com to get your free ebook copy of the short story.

Karyne (01:40:03) – I hope you enjoyed listening to Unmasked: Part 1 by Sarah Carlisle, narrated by Karyne Norton. If you want to read more by Sarah, go to authorseracarlisle.com to find more of her books. If you can’t wait until next week for the end of this story, you can sign up for her newsletter to get your own ebook copy of Unmasked. You can also check out the rest of the books in her Enchanted Tales of Tir, starting with Tested, a Princess and the Pea Retelling, which is available on Amazon.

We still have the Fantasy Retelling audiobook giveaway running this month with four fantastic retellings, plus a three-month Audible subscription. If you want a chance to win, go to findingfantasyreads.com/giveaway to enter.

And while you’re waiting to see if you win, you can start listening to my serialized audiobook for Blood of the Stars. I’ve posted 60 chapters so far, which is two-thirds of the novel and almost 20 hours of free listening time. If you enjoy listening to Paeter and me narrate stories on this podcast, I think there’s a good chance you’ll enjoy listening to my audiobook as well. You can find it on all the same podcasting platforms under Blood of the Stars, or you can listen on my website at karynenorton.com/audio. I’ll also have easy links in the show notes.

Thank you all for listening, and happy reading!
